A friend of mine encouraged me to give it a try and this site was free. So here I am. I have become friends with more people than I thought I would have.

i used to think online dating would be like Strange Days (where all your virtual reality fantasies would come true) now it's more like a cross between Planet Of The Apes,The Omega Man and Soylent Green very dystopian be seeing you

There was a stigma attached for a long time to on-line dating, one similar to "want ad" dating years ago. But now on-line dating is more socially acceptable and can be a convenient way to find the love of your life, or the easiest way to be a con. But, to think you get out of this what you invest is not accurate by any means. It's an uneven playing field.

What DID you think Online dating would be like at first....THEN What Do you think of Online dating....NOW I thought, and still think, that it is a terrific way in which to meet people with whom you have much in common, especially if you don't often get out to places where single people may be. My only issue with online dating is that the people that are so right for you, always seem to be so far away. I guess you could set your criteria so that only those who fall within a certain distance can contact you, but that'd take away all the fun of posting in the forums.

Exciting at first. Now very disturbing. Once upon a time we could only get a small sampling of humanity based on our neighborhood and whatever traveling we did. Nowadays we get to see the world in all its freakish misery. I'm thinking I prefer the once upon a time.

No, you hide it very well. However, if you want to see some true examples just read through some of these threads. Oh believe me. I know. I have nightmares about it sometimes.

Now I really enjoy the people I have met and the friends I have made. I have dated some men that I would never have known about, for the most part they all have enriched my life. I also have found an education out here that people really do think and behave this this...

What DID you think Online dating would be like at first....THEN I actually thought I would run into some people who lived less than 897,000 miles away and who would actually be interested in a creative & intellectual type. What Do you think of Online dating....NOW I found out it was nothing at all like I expected....and I met some really really scary and disturbing people....
