The second shift was elminated at my brother's place of employment. Senority saved him for now and he is working first shift - he will be next in line if there is another layoff. Last time I talked to him the talk there was of going to a 4 day workweek. They have had a shutdown of the line already and are planning one sometime next month. He says trying to find another job is tough. He works for a company and they assemble RV air conditioners.
He draws unemployment when they have the shut downs. |

I'm not, but at my full time job we are all just waiting on the other shoe to drop. I'm trying to be proactive and line something else up that will help in case it does. I don't want to jump ship, but if I wait too long there will be mega competition for any jobs remaining.

I do remodeling and handyman service. It always slows down this time of year.
I am fortunate to have properties that I sell, owner financing. All, I have on the market are paid for so, no mortgages for me. |

I have a daughter layed off in Oct. (Finanical institute), a son layed off in November (retail), and a brother this month (city worker). They all have looked and looked but in Iowa, everything seems to be going to hell in a hand basket! Lots of interviews but no luck. Too many here are on unemployment.

I'm not, I'm still lucky to not see any cuts anywhere... But several people I know are getting their hours cut, and some, their salaries are being temporarily lowered. Other companies have cut benefits so that they can afford to pay their employees or give them hours, like now they don't match the 401k...

I wanted to see and feel what most here are going through and to see if it has hit ALL of this country or just limited to a region? But I fear it IS the intire nation of US.... |
