Painting by Numbers
We live our lives Every day is a page And every chapter a year And every memory Holds colors of our dreams Brush strokes of joy love and fear Our hearts the authors Our wisdom the pens We’ll look back on these mysteries Seeking no answers And offer no reasons The gift of life is plain to see We are the fabric That holds the fate of man This tapestry of colors Can either be blessed or dammed These are books of people Who know only sorrow and war? Painting shadows on the tapestry And not knowing what life is for Colors all blend into one A book has closed - Another just begun A tapestry of colors That holds sisters and brothers A place for all who want to be Mountains of happiness To the rivers of tears It’s apart of life’s rich tapestry In our lives we question why The reasons why we live and die And why we return to the soil After years of earthly toil. Searching for answers in hope to find The reasons for life to help mankind There is no answer but only a solution But to come too terms with evolution. There are many books now closing And their authors see too late There lives where walked in total darkness The illness of human trait Perhaps it’s just the poor in spirit In humbleness who will find Their place within the tapestry That shows the picture of mankind A second passes A new life is born Just like the stars that appear in the skies Thousands of new books Authors every day Destined for history and never go away Like a child We still take small steps While selfishness stays by our side Always learning And still discerning Its either openness Or foolish pride Our worlds are so small And yet we stand - tall In the things we say and do Afraid to love our common man Some think they are the chosen - few We are the authors The painters and poets And we all have a gift to bring Future and history We are the creators Of books and life’s great tapestry Colors all blend into one A book has closed - Another just begun. |
