EA is the Electronic Arts game company people... I'm trying to figure out what "DRM" is? I think that's what it's called.

sad I just want to know if it will be on The Sims 3 or not...

Well, I've been reading forums at amazon about why people have stopped buying EA's games because of this software that they are putting in the games, but they never say what it does, only that it "violates the customer's rights" and such.

Typically limits installations to 3 per purchase. More licenses can be bought seperately for more installations, however if Electron A** knew how to create an uninstaller that worked worth a damn there would be no need for additional licenses. Only reason you need another license is if you delete registry entries and just delete the folder without using the uninstall program...that EA constantly mucks up along with their games.

Not all that bad of an idea for the reason of piracy...if pirates didn't already crack the majority of DRM's out there for PC...which ultimately makes it useless.

It limits the copying of it. OOPs to late Fear answered it first.

Ok. Thanks so much! :) I was just worried, cause I've been so excited about the new Sims game, and people were swearing off EA forever. I thought something had gone horribly wrong!

It's EA's lame ass copy-protection scheme. They think that by restricting the LEGITIMATE game players' ability to install their game to their computers, they'll combat piracy. Of course, since most software pirates and warezers tend HACK the games they're pirating, all that DRM crap wouldn't apply to them.

It's similar to the crap with gun control- the prevailing sentiment is that by limiting EVERYBODY's ability to purchase firearms, crime will be lessened. However, since most criminals get their weapons from means OTHER than legitimate means, such gun control laws end up doing nothing but negating the standard American citizen's ability to protect him or herself, which means it accomplishes nothing.
