What did she do???
she totally lied to me about going to her friends house. Her friends dad was supposed to pick her up. That was the deal. She snuck out and walked there because he had said he couldn't come get her.

Teen years? I can't wait for like 18...lol. I have two 11 year olds. Lord, the drama!

My 6 year old daughter tried to walk home from school about a week ago. I arrived to pick her up and she was gone. Missing. We found her 40 minutes later several blocks away. It was the worst 40 minutes of my life.

This makes me think of that joke "Insanity is hereditary...You get it from your kids."

I found it always paid to make whoever was suppose to be providing the transportation come to the door then there was no question and I got to meet the other parent. A couple times I intersected a drunk parent or older sibling; definitely not who I wanted to be driving my kids.

We had a standing rule with all our kids was that if the street lights were on and they were not inside with and adult they were toast. I got a lot of "you are sooooh unfair blah blah blah but kept them out of a lot of problems.

Grounding didn't really work that well with most of my kids; more of a punishment for me than them. I tended to come up with some kind of "creative" punishment. Since your daughter
"likes" to walk I think I would get a pedometer and make her walk so far as punishment. Someplace boreing like as a volunteer at a nurseing home, hospital, or libary. If she is busy maybe she won't be as likely to cook things up with her little partner in crime.

I got to say it is a lot easier for kids to get around parents today with cell phones and texting and being able to sell things on the computer.

That's just awful. I'm sorry you had to go thru that Ruth but at least it all turned out OK.
