I wouldn't put my safety at risk but I sure would hate myself from hurting them(accident or not) I love animals to much.

I was driving one night on a stretch of desert highway between Jal, NM and Mentone, Texas.

and it was rabbit mating season. there were literally hundreds of cute fluffy cottontail rabbits darting out into the road. There was nothing I could do.

It was gruesome. I killed at least thirty rabbits in an hour drive and there was nothing I could do

I'll slow down if I can or swerve a little to try and miss..but if it happens, it happens.

Circle of Life kinda thing.

and come morning I pulled into a little breakfast diner in Mentone and while I was sitting eating I looked out the window and there were four rabbits wrapped around the tie rods on my truck all mangled

it was really really gruesome

My post was answering the original question. It was for the OP.

If it was in reference to another quote, I'd have quoted it and then responded, as I am doing to yours now.

I'll try to avoid hitting an animal, squirrel included, but only if I can do it safely.

will not swerve to miss a squirrel, a rabbit, a dog, a cat or any other four legged animal. I did so once and it cost me dearly and the telephone pole didn't swerve to miss me. I totaled the car went to the hospital and had to pay for all damages. so to me anything that's out in the road will just have to take their chances

common wisdom in Texas says that if a deer runs out in front of you that you should just brace yourself and hit it

it doesnt help to run off the road and kill yourself to protect a deer
