I just have to give my 2 cents on the whole Earnhardt Sr/Jr thing. Thinking that Dale Jr. can live up to Dale Sr., well that's like comparing Richard and Kyle Petty. It ain't gonna happen! But here's the thing. Kyle Petty knows that his father is a legend. He knows that even if he can become as good as his father, he'll never be his father. And he has never been swept up into that pressure by the fans or the media. With Dale Jr, he has fallen into that trap. Most of his fans look for him to be exactly like his father, and unfortunately, he's trying to be what everyone is expecting him to be. If he would just concentrate on being the good driver that he is, without worrying about how everyone is going to compare him to how his Daddy did things, then he could be a great driver, and possibly be a legend, in his own way. |

then perhaps people should stop spending so much time comparing them to their "dad, uncle or any one else"
then maybe they could just be themself. |

im sorry. but wasnt it Dale Sr. who made "if it aint rubbin then it aint racing!" a household term? like Sr never did any wrong!!! dont get me wrong i liked the guy. but to idolize him like a god is jsut insane! he was as bad as Kyle Bush at "accidently" bumping people on the track sometimes. JM $.02 HATE stewart.. dirty driver.. and only semi like JR.. to wishy washy in my opinion. not consistant.. (ironic tho that my driver is Mark Martin.. i just have mad respect for him) i just think that attacking Jr for it... and not mentioning even ONE of the billions of other things that were complete BS that happened in that race.. hhmm... someone is feelin threatened by Jr. in my opinion. lol i just gotta give ya a hard time hubbie o mine! |

Izzy you missed a good show!!!! The truck and Nationwide races were both good races. Tony Stewart was the man..Lil shrub tried all he had in both races . I have seats just out of turn 4 so I had a great view...
The cup race itself kinda suc..Wish it would have went the whole distance. But it showed me that this new car will give a good race. My hats off to Tony Stewart this weekend!!!! All his cars were fast and he sure went through some...Hendricks power!!!! Should Jr have been held 5 laps???? I question that by what I saw. Im an old Sr fan so I saw some of his dad coming out. LIL SHURB wouldn't have as many wins last year if your going to. Vickers was blocking? NO... 57 cars show up to run!!!! Bodien wins the truck race without a major sponsor????? Tommy Baldwin!! Glad to see that!! |

I've seen it all. My family builds the head restraint systems. Like all the racers. I like JR. By rules he was supposed to get back on the track and fall in line- he did. The block was legal. The return was legal. You can scream to high heavens about intent until you're the one strapped into a million dollar car with a multimillion dollar team behind you, going 2 bills around the racetrack. Noone wants to get hurt. I can tell you that. And noone wants to hurt anyone else. Its become as professional as it can get. With racers and their families practically living and sharing lives together out there on the road for 270 days a year. Earnhart JR is one of the cleanest most professional men out there. And everyone knows that. He earned his way up the ranks by being a no BS racer unlike gordon (who came up the ranks on the tracks being caught frequently breaking rules and running unsafe equipment) or busch (who crashes others to win- always has because he's always had financial backing). Was it intentional? I don't think so. Too much to gain and too much to lose. Biggest race of the year. JR followed protocol as he has countless other times. Had he brake dipped diving back up into traffic- I feel there really would have been a bad wreck. Its not demolition derby- its nascar. I understand the EMOTIONS. But you need to understand the race. Go see JR at an iroc series. Go see stewart and kenseth at a wissota cup series. Go see busch at a knoxville truck series. Go see gordon run an outlaw series. Check out the racers schedules. See them out of character. Meet them and their families. See all the race preparation. Trust me- you will see them in a new light and realize how human they are. They are the best- all of them. And they've earned every bit of it.

Listen...Junior was illegally blocked and pushed below the line. If he didnt immediately get back in line...he would have wrecked into the cars behind him. He made an attempt to save his car and the rest around him but clipped the idiot that put him in that situation to start with. Junior didn't ask to be popped and sent below the line. Vickers was the overly aggresive driver in this case. If Junior would have been 6 inches further back...he would have cleared the idiot. My question is..why was Vickers going slower at that point? He should have been standing on the gas but instead slowed with Junior and got in the way of his recovery! Vickers should have been further ahead than he was. This was a racing accident. That's why no penalties were handed out. Misjudgement was the biggest factor here. If anyone was at fault...it was Vickers for throwing that block to maintain the lucky dog status.
