So I just got back from Bob Evans and this younger couple was in front of me at the cashier. She had her had hung low as he pulls out a coupon and a $10.00 to pay for their lunch together and decided to carry on a discussion whether the item was free or $0.80 off. She continued to be quiet and looked down on the ground. About 5 minutes or so later, they opened a second register, and 30 seconds later I was out of there.

1 day a year, our side of the species should avoid persecuting our dates/mates with miserably miserly embarrasing situations, and definitely should save that coupon for another day. frustrated frustrated frustrated frustrated frustrated

I just wrote "younger couple"... f***, I'm getting old!

I'm too male to use coupons but I know that when I see someone using them, I think they're smart, not cheap. But I also drive a practical car, don't wear diamonds or gold, and eat where it's not very expensive. Last thing I wanna do is make someone think that I have more than I do.

I like practical.

I have had miserly boyfriends. I don't mind the coupon so much as the checking the check and seeing something might have been over charged. I get embarrassed then or if he doesn't tip over 15%, I always put more money on the table if he doesn't tip enough.

You can slip the coupon in with the check and noone really has to see it.

I understand being practical and saving money when you can but if it appears cheap that is when it is too far.

I would rather pay an extra 50 dollars than argue over 80 cents.

if it embarassed his date then it could have been saved for another day. On a date is the one time I don't want .80 cents off to humiliate me at the counter.
When were married.........fine.

I'm with you..he should have saved the coupon for another day. It would make me feel like he only took me to lunch/dinner because he had a coupon and I wasn't worth paying full price for on a special occasion.

I've never known a man to use coupons for anything.

But I disagree anyway. He may just not have much money and want to have something better than Burger doodle.

I do not use coupons, but couldn't resist to ask:

So _basically_ coupons are OK, but when they are used by a man on a date, that's "cheap". And after that the ladies will continue to tell that they are not sell themself on a date?
What it is than rather than the act of sale? If there is no act of sale, how's something might be cheap or not cheap? If something is cheap, than that something is on sale laugh
