Alabama Woman Charged with Hiring Illegal Workers

Thursday, January 29, 2009, 2:48 PM

The owner and operator of an Alabaster, Ala. construction company was charged on Wednesday for allegedly hiring and harboring illegal aliens. Beverly Linan who owns Rodriguez Construction Company could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if found guilty on all the counts.

“The knowing employment of illegal aliens not only takes jobs from hardworking Americans, it is against the law, “ U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said in an article published by the Shelby County Reporter.

The illegal workers that Rodriguez Construction was employing have been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and face deportation.

“No employer, regardless of industry, size, type or location is immune from complying with the nation’s laws,” ICE agent Michael Holt told the paper. “ICE and our law enforcement partners will continue to bring all of our authorities to bear in this fight using criminal charges, asset seizures, administrative arrests and deportations.”

ICE has been investigating Rodriguez Construction for two years.

Personally, I think she should get the max. fine and probation. If she looses her business, Americans won't be able to work for her.

I don't know if any Americans would want to work for her. If she's going to do something as crooked as this, what other things might she be crooked at in her business?

I wouldn't want to get involved with an employer like that.

On the other hand, she might see the light and want to save her business and do it the legal way. Therefore, becoming an asset.
