"Nothing like a fresh pot over an open campfire on a clear day at about 9000 ft." Sounds nice If you've never tried it you should. The peace and quiet of a clear day with nothing but nature to keep you company. It's as close to heaven on earth as you can get. Your right, it is as close to heaven on earth as you can get. I go out on my balcony I live by the woods so I can hear the early morning sounds before anyone gets up. I love going out just before it gets daylight. It's so peaceful and quiet and just the sounds of nature at your finger tips.

Good Morning Everyone, Coffee's ready. Plenty to go round. Come on in and set a spell. Morning Ms Flame. Coffee sounds great. I'll just sit here and enjoy a cup or three Morning Ron, hope it's not to strong. I like my coffee very strong. I'm betting Ron likes his coffee the same as I do, strong enough to hold a spoon upright. Must be a mountain thing Nothing like a fresh pot over an open campfire on a clear day at about 9000 ft. I agree, that's why I learned to drink my coffee black, you don't carry sugar and cream in a backpack. Living out of a backpack in the wilderness is a wonderful experience. My longest pack trip lasted 17 days. I packed into the wilderness 20 miles and lived off fish and coffee. Man it was beautiful up there. We used to go up from Red Feather Lakes, in northern CO on horseback for 2 weeks at a time every summer. You are right, the cleanest streams, the freshest trout and the quietest nights are above 9000 feet.

All this talk of the wilderness has me dying to get up there. I hope summer gets here quick. And a good morning to all the others who have joined in. You getting to old for winter camping too? I used to love cross country ski camping trips. Now I would rather play golf in the sunshine all winter.

I live in an inner city apartment - if I open my door past 6 am all I hear is rap music, people talking too loud, muscle cars and kids yelling - so I have become a hermit :o)

Ok, all I'm off to help my lady get up and start her day. Turns out the only woman who smiles every time she sees me is 83 years old. But I'm glad I can help her, after intestine surgery and a stroke, she's still feisty as ever, and she really does appreciate me. See ya'll later.
