After working as a home health aide, and working in nursing homes I know what the human body looks like when it ages. That little butterfly tat on your breast will look like a dragon trying to eat your navel when you get older.

I have a tattoo on my lower back, as well as two other tattoos there is nothing wrong with tasteful tattoos.

As for the belly button ring, to each there own, but its the worse place to get a piercing. There are more infections from belly button piercings then any other piercing location! (and yes including the naughty places)

That's good to know as I have thought about getting one. Thanks for the info.

U've got to be extremely diligent about keepin them clean with anti bacterial soap and keepin waistbands off them for the 1st few months. If u do decide to get one I'd do it at the beginnin of summer. Alot easier to keep waistbands tucked down and excuse urself to run into the restroom and give it a quick wash. I carried alil bottle of soap and Qtips with me everywhere I went. It took about 2 and half months to heal completely. Never had a problem with infection cause I was constantly cleanin it.

You have to take care of it! Clean it with antibacterial soap a few times a day until it heals. And go to a competent piercer, because if they are inexperiences and pierce your abdominal cavity, you will have big problems!

Sounds like an episode on Grey's Anatomy.

They aren't sexy

Its just that they remind men of the staple in a porno mag.

Isn't that how they got started? The girl said, "Hey baby, recognize me?"

He didn't.... so she got her belly button pierced and asked him again. "Recognize me now?"

Lower back tattoos on women are uninspired, unimaginative, unoriginal, cliche, and trendy. That's it. Especially if they're over a nice ass.

Might as well put a bumper sticker on a Mercedes.

Well said. Wow. touche'

The unimaginites come out of the woodwork, I view the belly button ring as another thing to play with on the way south.... many things viewed from the right angle can be fun and not remind us of negative things. I have never had a GF with a pierced naval but I keep an open mind..

Heck I didn't even get my ears pierced until I was 47. But my nieces have belly button bars and they do look cute. I think if they are well placed and the right jewelry worn, they can be tasteful. And dainty little tats are nice too. But I can't get used to the ones that are huge and especially the ones that cover an entire extremity. But that's just my tastes. I prefer not to date a man with tats, but I can overlook a few if the man is a good one. It's just not my thing. I have no tats. I just believe the human body has enough beauty, we really don't need to permanently adorn it like that.

I've known many an older man and some women who, now that they are older, wish they had not gotten the tats. And they fade in time (at least they used to). My brother is covered with them and always talking about his next one, or an addition to an existing one... but he is forever having them recolored.

It's a matter of preference and taste.

i agree, there's a reason they call them tramp stamps.

and personally i hate it when people get little dainty tattoos in obscure places that never see the light of day. it's like "oooh, i'm a bad ass with a tattoo, but don't tell anybody."

My naval is pierced. I did it to give me an incentive to do sit ups.

Not sure it worked.....

I have had my tramp stamp for almost 15 years and I did it way before everyone else was. I like it and it holds meaning for me, and that's all that matters.

Well I never got my belly button ring to be sexy. That comes from with in.

I have had mine since 1976 way before they were ever popular over here in the states. I had mine done In Italy after watching a movie where this woman was walking on the beach with a little tiny ring pierced and it was holding up a very delicate chain. That did it I went and got mine done a week later. I have loved it every since. I now wear an emerald stud.

As far as the lower back tattoo if people researched it they might be very surprised of it's orgins. FWI.
