looks freakin cool! I haven't been a big fan of them since Wrath of Khan or Search for Spock but this new one looks like it'll be pretty cool..

Yeah, I've seen the up coming previews last year...even before they made a preview, I heard talk about it. I, too, am excited about this movie. As well as the new G.I. Joe movie (which I found out about on MySpace). What are the odds of finding that movie there?

pretty good odds actually. Myspace has been a pretty strong force recently in publicising new releases, especially with movies of that type of genre..

I was never much of a Star Trek fan. I thought they were... boring. But I will be happy to see this in the theatre. Looks pretty good.

Hope the new G.I. Joe movie is at least loosely based around the original animated movie.

I was a Trekkie once. Shocker, huh?
...But even LeVar Burton (Geordi LaForge, black chief engineer with the visor. STNG) said that ST:Insurrection "sucked."

Hopefully they didn't put all the interesting stuff on the trailer. A quick half-minute of action and a movie full of exposition wouldn't be beyond them but who knows? Maybe they learned their lesson(s).

The problem I have with the new ST movie is the fact that JJ Abrams is attached it. I've never been impressed with his past works, especially "Cloverfield", which to me was nothing more than a big-budget version of "The Blair Witch Project", only with a gigantic monster destroying New York.

I've got a feeling the re-imagined ST is going to be just as disappointing.

It's not a verbatim remake of the original from way back, is it?

It looked to me like it was more about the backstory of kirk and spock.. this should be new ground, so to speak..isn't it?

From what I understand, it's kind of like a prequel. It's supposed to be Star Trek before there was Star Trek.

Unfortunately, the story isn't quite canon, as the original series pretty much spelled out how Kirk and the rest of the crew were assigned to the vessel in the first place (via the "Menagerie" pilot movie/episode and one episode that kind of sewed that whole plot line up).

With J.J Abrams directing this movie, I am stoked about it. The guy is creative. He did a fantastic job with Mission Impossible III, and I have no doubts he will do the same with Star Trek.

GI Joe is gonna be a surprise hit this summer. Stephen Sommers took time away from directing and this looks like a bona fide hit.

I'll wait for the DVD. Maybe get it on a free rental.

I like the old Star Trek. Only because of Shatner's acting skills....
