We are all "Little Red Riding Hood" and the web is the woods we are skipping through.
Where's my scatter gun? |

I was up late last night, couldn't sleep. So I was browsing the threads... a guy pops up to chat, I figure, what the heck, no harm in chatting. So I accept. He just signed up and his one pic is fuzzy. Next thing you know he's hammering all these personal questions at me. Wants my full name, phone number so he can "hear my lovely voice"... wants to delete his new profile cuz he's found the one... yada yada yada. I put him in his place, and he proceeds to try the softer approach and gain my trust. He says he doesn't have calling card, so he gives me his phone number... an international number and wants me to call him --- yah, at 1:00 AM. I told him I can't make international calls, and he proceeds to ask for my number so he can call me. (Now, didn't he just tell me he didn't have a calling card and couldn't make calls?) How stupid do these ying yangs think we are? I reported his profile to Mingle and blocked him. He sounds like a predator or scammer to me. He kept asking me personal questions, wanted my full name, etc. -- and he would not answer any questions that I asked. Kept throwing more questions at me. He sent me an email with his pic and suddenly I couldn't open my yahoo email... and everytime I tried, the pc would lock up... I kept getting a flag that said I had 3,900 + emails. Scary stuff. And people can't understand why I'm reluctant to give out my phone number or other contact info when first starting to chat. It's our current society and the nature of the web I guess. Not much different than what we have to go through when we travel these days. We have been forced to become a suspicious and overly cautious society. Trust no one is becoming a reasonable policy to adopt. That sound a little creepy. I had a couple women from Russia contact on another dating site I once tried. That seemed great and things were going swimmingly until they learned I had no money, then I never heard from them again. Isn't there a better way of scamming people than trying to f@$k around with their hearts? |
