You need a license for every damn thing in this country, but anyone can be a parent. Makes ya wonder sometimes

Yeah, if I ran the country. You would have to have an IQ test, along with criminal background check, a financial advisor, stress test, and have to be physically fit (no lazy bums).mad

almost the exact same thing happened to me, except it was at a family gathering (my family and my niece's inlaws).

my sister was irate that i dared to speak up when one kid hit mine - repetively, the last time with him smashing her face into the screen door.

my neice (who was hosting the party) ran out of the room sobbing, with her entourage following and consoling her.

haha, and my sister had the nerve to call me afterward and say to me, 'i know the kid needed to be disciplined, but why did YOU have to be the one to say so?'

i guess blood isn't thicker than water huh?

I agree, parents need to discipline there children, that type of behavior should not be allowed. Parents you also need to know that it is legal to spank your child when necessary. It is not against the law to use your hand on their little behinds. You are just not allowed to use anything but your hands, and it must be on the rear end.

A very good point.

That boy had probably never been told "No" before then and I appluad you for correcting his behavior yourself.

It drives me nuts that parents don't discipline their children, when a lot of times that is all it takes.

It bugs me when kids are complete brats because their parents let them get away with everything; especially when I can whip that kid into shape in 30 seconds or less just by telling them that I will not tolerate that kind of behavior (mind you I'm not a parent). The parents just look at me with wide-eyes, it's like how can you get my child to behave better than I can?

Cause I try! slaphead

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I just started second guessing myself, if I did the right thing or not. I'm still stressed the hell out about it and I don't know why!

Now u know what today's socaity has done with kids. U can't touch your kids because that is abuse, which I fell is a total crock of s-it. But most parents don't know how to be parents, after all the kids are tring to teach them but they(parents) don't learn!!!!

My daughter, and I, were at the park one day w/ the same intentions, pure play. I'm chatting w/ a woman and increasingly realizing she's a bit cracked. Hey, happens a lot in Boulder!

My, then 4 year old, daughter runs past us screaming w/ glee. The witch reaches her arm out, as if a crossing guard to detain my child. She announces, "Now, you have just violated my space w/ your noise. I will accept your apology and your willingness to try that again." noway

Are you kidding me here? I bring my daughter here to scream like a banshee. STEP OFF! After, I
picked my jaw up, off of the sidewalk, and took a deep breath, lest I crack her head open. Instead, I calmly reprimand and bring her into check. I,
too, controlled the urge to assault and
annihilate. A few choice verbal slices upside the head had to suffice.grumble

About a year later I spot her as the dreaded exchange spouse on that show "Wife Swap". The program revealed what I'd discovered in 5 min.
She was demented, as was here husband and, by now,
2 kids.

The new hubby, on the show, dressed her in leathers, threw her on his Harley, took her to a bar and got her liquored up. Think it was the 1st time she'd ever let her hair down. It was gratifying to see him take her out SO hard!

Twisted people at ye olde towne park, aye? Creepy...spock

You can touch your kids....IT IS NOT AGAINST THE LAW!!! As long as you do it on the behind with your hand. I am a SOCIAL WORKER and I know this for a fact.

If you had beat the sh!t outta her, all you woulda done is proved to her kid that what he did was OK.
So I suggest beating her down behind a tree where the kid can't see bigsmile

Because your child was assaulted and you had no legal recourse.brokenheart Just use it as a great teaching point for him.

And, let it remind you that some of the worst people aren't just behind the wheel, they are at the park. grumble

Hate to tell you what is in store when your child hits public schools. This is just part of the basics training for what some of those "parents" are going to present to your life, much less their offspring! frustrated

Stay strong, you did good! Now breathe and go do something that makes you both laugh.flowerforyou
