"In your wake I will rise..."

Do you think with the death of someone you will better cope with certain situations and/or events? Is there someone that holds you back in their life, but in their death you will rise?

Ohhhhh. This is a TOUGH query.

I think that with certain people, they might be dependent or overly reliant. If they died, they would be forced to overcome and learn those skills that they did not have or utilize with the person being alive. I can totally see that.

Well, I certainly don't want anyone to die in order to elevate my coping skills...but, as a person who knows more dead people than alive, I'd have to say that yes, losing a close friend or loved one would cause the one left behind to seek other coping mechanisms...

Let's face it...we "draw" the most important & influencial souls of our lives to us... Free-will notwithstanding...these souls do add (or detract) from our existence simply by merit of their personal experiences & their correlation in our lives.

It's like having a fondness for chocolate ice cream...if it were taken away...I'd still like ice cream but would then have to choose vanilla or Rocky Road (LOL Gotta love THAT analogy!)...to get my ice cream fix. Doesn't take away my love for chocolate...just forces me to try alternatives...Ben & Jerry's, anyone?biggrin

I have read that a man never truly grows up until the death of his father

I'm hoping to not find out if that is true for a long long long time

It depends on who dies.......smokin

If it were my dad, I would be forced to be more independant because I am still slightly dependant on him when things like a flat tire or something of that nature arises.

If my son were to die before me I dont think I could cope.noway

My father and my grandfather died 3 days apart, at the age of 29 I became the oldest male in my family. I grew up quick and took on far more responsibility for my extended family than I was prepared for. I grew up quick.
