I always support her in all she does. They are going to treat her with
Limactal. I did research and found a 57 page description of the drug. It
can cause a rash so bad it requires hospitalization and/or
disfigurement! I am having a very hard time with this!! Vanderbuilt did
the diagnoses and it took them 2 days for that. I am very comfortable
with their care. Thank you for your replies.

Mike,

Cyclothymia is a lesser form of bi-polar: the mania and depression is
less severe; most often diagnosed in teens and adults in their 20s.

There are many differentials involved in making a diagnosis because
cyclothymia is difficult to pinpoint as its mood spectrum is not as
severe as other illnesses.

Counseling with the appropriate mental health professionals and meds
will help. I also advocate the use of diet, exercise, and herbals to
help unless contra-indicated.

You have some of the very best there at vanderbilt who diagnosed your
daughter! If you need a second opinion i can hook you up with a battery
of specialists here in chattown. They are the best in the tri-state area
and did an extensive and lengthy evaluation with my lil britches and his
autism spectrum disorders. This is a free service and I will be most
happy to help any way possible.flowerforyou

Good luck Mike, my daughter was diagnosed as borderline personality when
she was in her early teens, similar to manic depressive, but was hard to
treat in her, but she didn't have a strong dad in her corner. She got
better as she grew up.

Best wishes.

My son has many things going on... and, the manic vs depression cycles
can be brutal.

He is emotionally handicapped, with other physical disorders. Now 20
years old, it becomes heartbreaking when he is on the upside and either
doesn't follow through with important things, or goes off meds... and,
on his down sides... very hard.

It is never easy to raise a child, never mind those with handicaps.

light to you.
