Indiana expects plentiful corn crop! By Zachary A. Goldfarb, The Indianapolis Star Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News Aug. 13--Agricultural officials expect a plentiful corn crop in the state partly because of favorable weather conditions this summer. Indiana Agricultural Statistics Service estimated in a report Thursday that Indiana farms would yield 156 bushels of corn per acre. That would tie a 2001 record. Corn production would rise 5 percent from last year to about 827 million bushels. Indiana produced 8 percent of the country's corn in 2003. |

Cucumber!
There's a GLUT! =-=-=-=-=-=-= Cucumber Harvest and Glut August 13, 2008 Its the first time I’ve grown cucumbers (marketmore) this year outdoors and I am very impressed with the results. I do love cucumber but I am the only one in my house that does so apart from having cucumber salad every day I was hoping to find other ways of using cucumber. When there’s a glut I usually eagerly wait for another veggy blog on my google reader to post some recipe ideas and hey presto Greenfolks came in on target - thanks for that. Here is the recipe for Cucumber, Pepper and Onion Relish.
