is it just me,or do there seem to be more 'simple minded' threads than cerebral threads... especialy over the last couple days? be seeing you

It's not just you.

It happens. If you don't like the threads being posted, perhaps start more of your own?

I posed this same question a while back, and I caught hell for it, so I'm at the point where I just don't give a sh!t anymore.

I don't really see the point in whining about the quality of threads. Post your own if you don't like what's there already. It's as simple as that.

And be passive. Let's not forget about that.

The reality is that the "Would You Have Sex With The Person Above You While A Llama Listens To Old Perry Como Records?" will get more responses than any sort of substantive discussion about anything. The "LCD Effect."

i find that it's cyclical.

some days, there are quite a few threads that interest me, even if i'm just reading without posting.

other times, it seems to be mostly chat between people who know each other and i stay out of those.

 i guess it's just the nature of our "dumbed-down" society...everything is the lowest common denominator...music,movies books and now even our politics...i just wonder if it's because people DON'T want to use their brains or they don't have the brains to use? be seeing you

has it ever occurred to anyone here that sometimes some of us are so overloaded at work that senseless drivel isn't so bad??

I think there's room for both in our world. People need to use their brains occasionally and people also need downtime when mindless drivel is really about all we can handle. I know for me, I need both, just depending on my day.

For those who only want to exercise their brains (and I applaud you), I'm sure there must be a website somewhere for that. flowerforyou

Perhaps this is why "reality TV" is so popular.

Has the possibility crossed anyone's overly snobbish cerebral cortex that some of us have had a long difficult day of work, chasing our kids around, taking care of the house, etc., that maybe we just enjoy some simple conversation? Mindless though it might be in your eyes? smokin

I know that's why I watch it. I come home after a long, demanding day at work, deal with the demands of home, my child, homework, bills, pets, etc. I'm tired, I'm overloaded and my eyes burn too much to read. I simply cannot handle anything more than something I have to put any kind of thought into whatsoever, I just want mindless entertainment to wind down my day so I can try to get some sleep and start it all again the next day.

Not every day, of course, but a lot of days are like that.

I've learned that some of the buzzwords which seem to generate almost instantaneous knee-jerk defensive reactions are "inane drivel" and "baggage." Use at your own risk.

Can't help it, it's the redhead in me. We all feel the need to use our brains. But where some go run is trying to show it off and make others feel less intelligent. Just cause someone maybe dumb as a box of rocks you ain't gotta go screamin it to the world. Have some diplomacy. If you feel the need to use your knoggin then go to one of the threads that allows you to do so. flowerforyou
