"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."
-- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

To apply the above definition to your life in every way possible.

That is the love that you have for your children. I would do anything for them to help them short of committing a crime. Let someone be rude or nasty to them and watch out. I would help them get a house. Got them in college. Love them to my last breath leaves my body. Whatever they need I am there for them. I draw the line at raising their children, unless they were in someway unable to physically or mentally care for them. My motto is you had them you raise them. That is what my mom taught us and that is what I stick by. So far no babies. Yeah me.

i think of it as acceptance, of truly loving the person as they are, not in spite of their faults, or even because of them, but just because those traits are a part of what makes that person a complete package.

you can try to remove/change the parts you dislike but, in doing so, you may take away something good, that you liked, about that person as well, and they will never be that same person with whom you fell in love.

conditions are ideals that we hold. if we remove those ideals, we need to be capable of loving what still exists.

When you don't stand up for yourself, when she treats you like crap, because you know she has issues?

the only greatest gift is of yourself
without protection
no quid pro quo
only the strongest can survive it
but there is no substitute
once you have experienced
selflessness

I think to love unconditionally is to love no matter what. Love without expectation. To be there for someone whether they are there for you or not. To love for the rest of your life and then some. It is hard to to deliver and hard to find.
