My life has been filled with wonders and adventures that most people will never see, and also the worst and most vile things that I wish I had never seen. But every now and then you know it's always hard to tell....I'm still alive and well.

What I thought would happen when I was about 18 never happened. A lot of things happened that were out of my control. I learned from every experience.

I thought I'd end up as a musician, and I did that for awhile, but I ended up as a writer.
I thought I'd probably dabble with short-term, revolving-door relationships until I was about 30, and then find someone to get serious with; and then I found there is no one like that. I thought the people I called "friends" were worthy of the title; but I found out that most of them weren't. Overall, I'd say I've been generally pleased with what I've accomplished thus far, even though it might not have been what I originally planned. The downside has been the people in my life -- in that regard, I'd have to say I've been severely disappointed.

Never thought I would be a widow at 39. Raising two daughters on my own. Working 12-14 hours 5 days a week. Never was much on family when I was growing up in my own...but now I am all about family. I guess losing someone you love makes it all so real.

| I imagined that I would be in the military, married with a couple babies. Yet instead I am a Chef, working on a vegetarian cook book hoping to get it published, and single with no kids or boyfriend. Congrats to you on your accomplishments and good luck with your book... | |

i thought i'd develop great expectations
i thought my family life would begin in earnest in my mid 20s i did not realize the power of sacrifice i could not foresee that the greatest opportunities appear like a flash i did not anticipate that awards would truly be empty for me i was shocked by my own and others capacity to love and children, i am always astonished by children

| I imagined I would've been in a better position in life. Pipe dream. Yeah, I hear you. I didn't picture myself alone and spinning my wheels at 50... Me either and I am 66... | |
