Definitely cats, because of their independence. Give them full run of the house, full bowls of food and water, and a clean poop pan, and they're happy. You can go away for the weekend, and they don't care. They don't need to be walked, they don't need to be let out, they don't need to go everywhere you do, they don't slobber all over everything, they don't take up much room, they don't bark, they're not overly needy....I can do this all day.

dogs....
why...loyalty and discipline
protective of the family
they are a really good excuse to be outside for large quantities of the day
they are affectionate
good with kids
if you're good to them, they never turn on you
they always come home

DOGS!!! drool

Born in the year of the dog. I'm always waggin' and droolin'- and I'm TOO loyal. I LOVE dogs and they love me. My bird dog kept me safe in all kinds of mountains.

Still, my eyes look like a feline...

If you were born in the year of the dog and you wag, drool, and are too loyal...well, what does it say about me if I was born in the year of the monkey??

I like both but cats are easier and you dont have to take them out for walks.

Also big dogs tend to wag their tails so much around me that they have been known to knock off coffee cups and candles off of my coffee table!!!

Cats.. but let me clarify by what I mean by cats. They are usually more intelligent than dogs, but not as much fun. So basically you get a very large cat. I'm working on getting a lynx and possibly a few other really large cats. You have superior intelligence along with being able to play with them like they are dogs because of their size and they can eat any dog alive.

really you think cats are smarter than dogs?? You are either getting the wrong dogs, or you aren't paying attention

Most dogs are dumb. There are some select dogs and select breeds that are on par with cats. One breed is Akita. I will own an Akita because they are extremely intelligent and wonderful dogs to own.

Also, cats are usually laid back when you want them to be whereas dogs usually don't care either way unless you train them really well. Cats just have it built in.

a dog is only as smart as it's master/owner
