I know what you mean, Redshirt...but then we got to get into all that spelling & grammar schtuff...tongue2

I sent out a couple of hand-made birthday cards this week...maybe it's only a small gesture, but I know it's appreciated...

I try to avoid text talk myself on here. I was an English major and bad writing just irritates me.

I love getting real mail. I send it out sometimes too. Unfortunately, I don't get it very often.

Who still gets it? Who still sends it?

Sure, an email is nice...but I still enjoy finding, amongst the bills, a card or handwritten letter...I also enjoy sending hand-made stationery & cards to my friends...

Has it become a lost art?

I do to certain people yes. I have a friend who I've written letters back and forth with since we were 15. We partied in Alabama together where she lives a few years ago, we're better off as pen pals and phone buddies...lol.

I still get snail mail. I have a couple pen pals that I write to. I love getting their letters, makes me feel like a little kid, I rush home to read what they wrote to me.

I have a penpal and we have been writing 55 yrs... I have been to see her a couple of times and she has been here. Always nice to get handwritten letters and cards...flowerforyou

When my husband passed away in July I received a ton of cards and letter saying and telling great stories of him. I will cherish those cards and letters forever and my children love reading them over and over. I send out Christmas, birthday, Valentines Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, whatever the occassion might be letter and/or cards. I love getting them so I know others do to.

Ok everybody on mingle needs to sit down and write a letter to everyone you know!

Come on now TJN likes his job and would like to be able to retire doing it.

TJN, so would I, but we are going thru a restructure here in NY and the facility I work in just did away with day shift in automation. End of the month I start on night shift again.

This holiday season was the worst I have ever seen in my 19 years with the post office.

... I actually like to write a letter now and then, but I'm sort of quirky like that; I actually like the feel of the paper, I like how words flow from your mind to your hand and onto paper, an art form of sorts. I like the permanence that a handwritten letter suggests, I like thinking that someone actually took the time to sit down, write something to me, seal it in an envelope, and mail it off ~ there's a certain anticipation in sending or recieving a letter that is indescribeable; I love getting a letter scented with perfume that reminds me of kissing her in that one part of her body that is oh so soft. All in all, I enjoy letter writing and recieving.
