Sensibility!
Is it just me, or does it seem like the whole world's going over the deep end? I've never been as exposed before to so much narcissism,nurousis, pessimism, corruption, atheism, and down right hatefulness as I seem to be now. Maybe it was always around me and it's just that I'm paying more attention these days. The police were called out last night to break up a domestic fight just down the street and I heard from a nieghbor this morning that the wife went to the emergency room and the husband went to jail and it was all over a dispute over the tv remote. Wow...  |

From my experience from working in social work with domestic violence, the tv remote might have been the tipping point. However, there is alot more going on. Possible intoxication at the time. If he has been violent in the past, he could fly off the handle for little things. You just never know.

It's just that it hits pretty close to home because most folks around here know each other, yet everyone I've talked to (several nieghbors) said they considered them both to be very friendly and mild mannered. It took 4 policeman and a taser to subdue the guy. His wife has a severe concussion and swelling of the brain... I guess he could've killed her, had the police not intervened. |

Most of the time, not even friends or family know about any abuse. You might not be old enough to remember it but I live in Gainesville where there was nationwide media coverage back in the 80's about a string of student murders here. The murderer was caught, convicted and just recently executed. It changed this small college community overnight. Folks still talk about it. Even just last spring a lady in one development over was kidnapped from her own front yard and brutally beaten and raped. They still haven't caught the rapist. It's mind blowing, considering how small the town is... |

That's not good! As the economy worsens, violent crime will increase!

It is a big deal. You were effected by it! I think that you posting it is a good thing! It gives more exposure to it! Also, gives you a chance to talk about it and process it!
And I am sure there are other neighbors that feel the same as you do.. that it's upseting. |

hi did u ever heard about women her husband never do any thing bad to her but she lie with domestic violance to get all his money to enjoy it and even stop him to see his kids if u dident hear it iam one of them and 3 more friends good luck with the law i agree who said its women country

I work in social work and I make calls on police reports to men all the time. And we have a few males that come in for counseling. If she didn't have police reports and other proof of domestic violence, then that wasn't right. However, most people who experience domestic violence, men and women, never report it authorities. However, if the courts believe her, then there must have been some sort of proof either police report, counseling records, or eyewitness accounts, granted I don't know or seen the case you are talking about. |

i hope i can find just a women dosent lie and love her man i will marry her but in 5 years as single didnt find that women any help ? hmmm... shower everday, make regular dental visits, at least ACT like you like kids,cats and puppy dogs, and always keep extra cash on hand...Oh yeah...Almost forgot... Always tip the waitress...that's a biggie in most women's eyes... Beyond that, I'm in the same boat brother...
