Important not really. it's nice to put a face with the words so to
speak.

A picture helps me to remember who I am talking with. If I talk to
several people without pictures it is hard to tell who said what,
especially after a little time passes.

Lots of pictures people put up are very old or even the wrong person
entirely, so pictures always have to be overlooked to some degree,
particularly if someone has a picture that is exceptionally attractive.

At least you can know which person is which if there is a picture.

If you're interested in them its better to get the cards on the table. I
think most people are not likely to fall in love with a blank face.
There has to be something there. You can talk for so long, but if you
continue to never see a picture, eventually it seems pointless, losing
time over someone you might have no interest in whatsoever.

Remember if you never see a picture of someone there is always a chance
that they are extremely bad, toothless, overweight, unkempt. There has
to be some line beyond which an ordinary person would lose interest.

oh IM ing I get it! I'd like to see who I'm chatting with. So I
guess its important.

I generally as a rule won't chat on the Im if they don't have a pic of
themselves.

Only on rare occassions have I.

And I have to agree ^^. Exchanging pics lets you know someone is who
they say they are and help you connect better I think.

If it's idle chitchat, no huge deal. Anything that goes beyond that, I
have to see what the person looks like, even if it's likely we'll never
meet.

they shouldnt be, because some people (like myself) just don't take very
good pictures. The person can be so yummy, but unless its a profesional
pic with special lighting and instruction, the person looks awesful!
