As one night I lay dreaming
my thoughts took strange flight back through eons of time into dark mists of night…. The night-breeze blew warm beneath black, desert skies…. And I stood gazing down into dark, sultry eyes…. I was a young pharaoh and she a queen whose face I had at some other time seen…. Words strangely familiar I wanted to say, but, like a phantom, her vision soon faded away…. But my dreams wouldn’t be still; they had to fly on to another time in days bygone… Legions of Romans with flashing swords standing off waves of savage hordes. And I was a dying legionnaire with fading thoughts of a maiden fair… The same strange feelings flooded my heart. She was from a world of which I was a part But my dreams wouldn’t dwell in a particular time Again they flew on without reason or rhyme… I became a knight on a pale white steed engaged upon a noble deed to rescue a maid for whom my love was so strong it was sung through the land In troubadour’s song. I urged my steed onward shouting, “Once she was mine - and will be again through far reaches of time…..” Then I awoke in the present, feeling somewhat dismayed with the feeling I still was in those bygone days…. But the truth was revealed: Though it seemed odd, it’s true…. Throughout all the ages that dream girl was you…… |
