He nelt by her side,
lifted his hand to caress her soft cheeck.
She turned her head
as she started to cry.
The woman got on her feet,
trying not to meet his gaze.
she walked away
with eyes full of tears.
"why is it that you always have to go?"
"Why is it that you can never stay?"
The man did not answer.
His face was twisted
The streaks on his face made his torment visible.
But, dispite this, he seemed as calm
as a nice day in spring.
He did not move,
not an inch of his being made a sound.
She turned to him begging,
"please just stay with me."
But she had failed to reach him
as the man stood still,
slowly succumbing to the shadows.
She took one step at him,
he took two back.
She started to run at him,
but he only seemed to draw farther and farther away until he vanished out of sight.
"When will you come back to me and save me from my misery?" the woman whispered in her sleep.
"Why did you have to always go?"
"why could you never stay?"
The ghost of the man stood over her; she cried in her sleep, unaware of his presence.
The man opened his mouth to speak for the first and final time.
"I have to go. This is the end."
"I am sorry for all of your pain and suffering."
He nelt down and kissed her
one last time on the cheeck.
"I miss you love, but I am needed in heaven now."
"Please try not to cry any more in your sleep."
With that he took a bow and disapeered from sight.
The woman woke up within seconds after his departue,
smiled and went back to sleep.
She had no more tears to cry; they had all dried up.
The woman had finally found her peace.
