It is an antibotic resistant strain of a bacterial infection. It can come from a simple paper cut.
As long as your under medical care and your doctors are aware of the posibility that it could be a MRSA infection you should be OK. If it is you will need heavy duty antibiotics and you MUST follow your doctors dosing directions. FINISH all your antibiotics EVERYTIME they are prescribed, no matter what they are for FOREVER.... Your body my be resistant to certain antibiotics. Good Luck and feel better |

hi, I am in the medical field and deal with MRSA and VRE daily. It is contagious and if it is left untreated yes it could kill. Once you have it you will always have it but it kinda goes in remission is the easiest way to explain it to you. only certain antibiotics treat it like Vancomycin. It is resistant to other antibiotics. Make sure you take full coarse of the antibiotic for it would not be beneficial and will reappear. go under google and they have a really good explanation if you need more insight. good luck and i hope all goes well for you.

How are you doing Steve, did you get your tests back yet? "MRSA is methicillin resistant Staph Aureus" and it is actually really common anymore. It lives on the skin and will enter through a break in the skin and start the infection. Doctors can treat it with sometimes double or triple antibiotic therapy, using Bactrim, Septra, Levaquin or combinations of them, sometimes Bactroban as an ointment on the skin with a bandage. They also have the person shower with Hibiclens at times too to get rid of any other bacteria on the skin. You should wash your bedding in hot water and your clothing so you don't recontaminate. I have heard them even tell people to wash down their counters in their homes with a light bleach mixture, etc. Sinks, faucets, etc., and yes wash your hands often.
I hope it isn't MRSA, but it is really quite treatable with the antibiotics they are using and the process above. I have typed lots of notes lately on people with a MRSA infection, seems to be very common, and they have all recovered just fine. Take care of yourself. Be well. |
