When my son ate baby food, I was so proud that he ate everything he tried and liked it.

Now, at 21 months I can't get him to eat hardly ANYTHING. I mean, he prefers saltine crackers to what used to be his favorite, mac and cheese and baked beans. He loves BBQ chicken pizza, but seriously he wont eat anything else.

Any good ideas for things to cook a 2 year old and maybe make it fun?

my 2 year old goes through weird hases one day he will eat absolutely nothing just drink a lot... the next he'll eat sooo much... he loves hot dogs, pizza, eggs, mac and cheese, cheese in general, and he loves bread especially garlic bread.

Might try some chicken nuggets, hot dogs, things like that...each child has their own preferences and he will change continuously on his likes and dislikes as he grows....my daughter used to eat anything that had cheese on it....now, she eats pizza with no cheese, hamburgers with no cheese...etc. Cereal might work for him too....as long as he is eating something, don't worry yourself, he will come around

Things he won't eat:

hot dogs
beef
eggs
cheese
vegetables
fruit
fish

He will eat chicken on occasion, not very often though.

And that is just SOME of what he wont eat. *sigh*

my kids STILL ask for 'pastina' on occasion.

it's a baby pasta, and you boil it in only a little bit of water, and don't drain it.

i usually mix an egg in there, and sometimes hide a babyfood jar of sweet potatoes, some parmesan cheese, and olive oil, and it's not a bad meal. there's all sorts of vitamins added to the pasta.

and it only takes about 5 minutes to prepare.

I have a two year old niece who is going through the same thing. All she eats is cheese related foods.

Maybe he's just bored with the same stuff. Try to make the food look different.

Try some mac & cheese but with different shapes. Maybe some wheels & cheese, or shells and cheese.

PB&J squares.

Fruit roll-ups

Mashed potatos, french fries

Quesidillas

Tacos

Hamburger pattie with no bun

The thing that works best with my daughter is to have her help me make the food. Then it is special to her. Like have her go get the bread or help spread the peanut butter, etc. Just an idea.

let him know that he can try anything that you are eating at any time and then eat what you like and offer it to him periodically, let him help make stuff, stuff he can roll up or eat with his hands, some kids like yogurt or various types of dips that he can dip a chip or tortilla or cracker into...

fresh fruit - esp. bananas we always have available, raisins,
peanut butter with jelly, honey, fruit, celery, etc. though you might want to wait on the peanut butter to avoid any allergy issues until he's a bit older! string cheese, our kids like broccoli, green beans, and edamame (soy beans). ramen noodles! hamburgers, fries, mashed potatoes, hash browns, eggs! kids often like hard boiled eggs or scrambled if the help especially!

Monkey bread, its easy, really GOOD, and you both can make it.

4 tubes of biscuits (10 count each)
1 cup of sugar/seperated (I prefer brown)
1 stick of butter
2 tsp. vanilla extract/seperated
paper or plastic bag
round baking pan

-grease the pan-cut each biscuit into 4 pc.- put some sugar in your bag with some of the biscuit pc. and shake-place each piece in greased pan-take the butter, rest of the sugar, vanilla and melt it all in a sauce pan-pour it over the biscuits and bake in the oven at 400 for 35-40 min.-pop it out of your round pan onto a plate-let cool-serve as a coffee cake.

the only way to eat it is with your hand, enjoy:banana:

He likes baked beans, but if anything I make him has hamburger in it, he won't eat it. He doesn't like beef. Which is a shame, cause there is so much I could do with it.

I don't want to turn him into an addict!laugh

Seriously though, I don't give him much sugar. I try to control how much he has anyway. Don't need him bouncing off the walls more than he already is.
