What do you mean it drops the chat connection, GeniuSxBoY? Do you have to reconnect, for example? Does the conversation reset itself? Something else?

After you click accept into an instant message, a pop-up window with the chatroom is created.

The chatroom works fine for a few minutes and then randomly or timely (depending on the code), the whole window automatically refreshes itself into a google ad.
No more chatroom.
The physical address of the window is now the google ad's address. There is no clicking "back" because it's a popup window, so you're forced to close the window causing unconditional disconnect.

I noticed that too. Without warning in the middle of an IM chat, the window just changes to a banner ad. It completely loses the IM that was happening. Forcing both people to close the window and re-start the chat in a new window.

it is possible to go "back", when the ad takes over, try hitting the backspace key once

I have done some testing and I believe that I was able to duplicate the problem a time or two. More testing is forthcoming, so perhaps I'll have a more definitive conclusion in the near future.

Hi FrothGiant. In order to IM another person, go to the person's profile. If he/she is online, you'll see an orange button labeled "Instant Message" under their photo. Just click on that button, and a chat session will be opened.

A couple of things to remember is that some users have IM turned off. Also, if a user has Stealth mode turned on, you will never see an IM button in his/her profile.
