anyone have had their tonsiles taken out?

i had an absess yesterday and spent freakin 9 hours in the ER while they drained it. now they are demanding i have my tonsiles removed and i hate surgery.. i'm gonna admit...

I thought they stopped taking tonsils out. If they want to there must be a damn good reason or get a 2nd opinion .

i had my ones out at 5. yea it sucks to have it done to say the least. my friend is in the hospital right now he just had it done and it is just one of the things they have to do. when they ask if you want something for the pain take it every time that ask. and tell them to give you one of your meds before you go home to see if it is strong enough.and tell them to have all your meds you need for the up coming week before you will leave other wise it sucks to have to go get them when in pain.get a big box of Popsicle s before you leave so when you come home you already have them.ps set your alarm to wake up to take your meds other wise it takes time for them to kick in.good luck i hope it all works out.

not necessarily to do whatever doctor said . they give me some option but hey, I am here , still alive .Just be careful eating ice cream, drinking cold staff

you are welcome.i even call a cab and they let me go home by myself.most times i dont have no one to help me. but i have learned how to take care of myself.

Had mine out when I was 3 in a dr. office.....that's the way they did it then..

You have had infections before haven’t you?

They still take tonsils out.

1st time this year I was wrong
I was just watching a video on it.

My child was getting a lot of throat infections. The pediatrician said no to the surgery. The ENT says yes.
They don't do them as quickly as they used to do them.

I was 20 when I had mine out. The older you are the harder the surgery is. I was in the hospital for a week and a half just for a tonsillectomy

but afterwards I felt MUCH better and wouldn't have done anything different

did you know they can actually grow back

i get strep alot tonsillitis and bronchitis. I've had a septoplasty once to fix the deviated septum and i've had one absess before where i went to an ER in california for swelling and my throat closed on me while i was there.

oh my god. that long? that scares the crap outta me.

I was in the hospital many years ago. It's not scary.

it was an ordeal. the doctor said they came out in pieces cause I was so old and they were so deteriorated. and the anasthesia cause me to throw up in recovery and ripped out all the stitches

but even so it was well worth it for as much improvement it gave me afterwards

and all the ice cream you can eat

A second op. is a great idea! BUT since it`s not done on an oh so regular basis anymore there could be a good reason.
