not scary to me at all, I don't think anything's scary as long as you're doing it for the right reasons and with honorable intentions, if you go into it thinking "meh, I can always get a divorce" or "man this guy/girl is loaded, I'm set for life! now, what's the number for that guy/girl I met at the....." etc., then yeah, it's probably pretty scary. laugh

I really think it's sad it's not taken more seriously these days, I still think it's a very serious and worthwhile commitment, just seems most people these days think it's stupid or a joke. My guess is probably because they're terrified of real commitment and work in a relationship, or they just don't get the point or don't want to be "tied down" even though they've been seeing the same person for like 5 years and live together etc. I really hate how our culture has trivialized a lot of things that are more meaningful and important over the years in lieu of less meaningful, instant gratification type stuff instead. ohwell

I never even considered it until 2008, but yeah, the idea was scary - after it didn't happen and I was so thankful it didn't.

Having been married once already, I would say there is absolutely nothing scarier.

Well, maybe a giant robot with an eagle's head that shoots laser beams out of its eyes. That would be pretty scary. But I wouldn't marry it.

The getting married part isn't scary. It's the changes that go along with getting married that would be scary to me.

Allow me to correct myself then, for a good many people the reasons behind why they got married are stupid or how they went about coming to this decision , the institution of marriage itself is not.

I'm in my first marriage and it hasn't even been a year yet. I thought I would be terrified coming into a marriage with 3 kids. I was wrong. I was more excited then anything. The only thing I missed is that my mother wasn't there to help me out.

Only if you are not mature enough for it, responsible enough for it, and there is no respect, trust, and genuine affection.

A little nervousness is normal. Terror and fear? That means its more about you than them. Time to make a personal assessment.
