Awakened From You

Awakened from a slumber
From the world in which I lived.
Your mere existance there
Has left a darkened empty gift.

The battles fought within our mind
Now seperates as two.
I wonder really now
If that's what you set to do.

The past is but a remnant.
Your pain can't cause me harm.
For now I understand the beast
That caught me in her charm.

You said I seemed so distant,
Last time you spoke to me.
What good is left to past
If always lived in memory?

You want to know my heart,
Yet you were blinded to it's source,
You thought you knew what drove me,
Yet your torment took it's course.

You disemboweled my kindness
And fought my attempts to care,
You stabbed the heart that loved you
And thought I was unaware.

Awakened to the present,
Revived by subtile tones of love.
Rebuilding what was broken,
My heart stirs but not enough.

She holds me in her arms
And cures what's dead inside,
Within her aura shining
There's no where I can hide.

She took me to her heart,
Something you could never do,
It's there her love does comfort me,
Protecting me from you.

She accepts the good and bad
And attempts to stop the pain.
After meeting who you are,
She vows I won't be hurt again.

What you need to understand
Will only come with time.
After you stop blaming
All the others for your crime.

You use my words against me
And silence what I feel,
Restrained from what is natural
Till my heart's refused to heal.

One thing you can't now understand
Is why you think you've failed.
You can't corrupt what's pure in heart
Or those whom seek for love unveiled.

Smiles now are broadened,
For our spirits now are one.
Her heart has grafted into mine
Untangling what you've done.
