I hit stop twice it did stop but it never brings up the menu. It starts straight from the beginning as if there are no previews... Maybe it's not a bootleg but it's definately not the copy my brother has? I don't get it.

Take back to BB and tell them your concerns, if you think they already know and don't care, report it to FBI. One bootleg copy isn't going to cause any excitement. If its system wide and BB knows and participates, thats a huge deal and the Feds would get real excited.

But like I said previously, could be a legit, but poorly produced copy. jmho.

Take it to the blockbuster counter when you return it and tell them so they go after the person who rented it before you and not you for replacing it, blockbuster didnt do it, but you are a suspect if you just return it.. "CYA"
thats right.....you will be suspect, not BB.
matter of fact they will probably go after you for the replacement unless you talk to them asap!!!!

I don't care if they know about it or not. I am not going to have in my possession an unlawful possession of any sort. Ignorance isn't bliss and I don't care if they do it worldwide nationwide or just on the borders of Mexico where I rented it from. I also don't care if it's a single case and if someone else had previously rented it and returned a copy that was fraudelent and they were too lazy to find it out. I want answers and I don't know how to get them.

Well I hope I am not imagining this as a bootleg and it does turn out to be one that's number 1.

Number 2-I want my refund for the movie if it is in fact a bootleg.

Number 3-I want to see blockbuster get in trouble for allowing this kind of behavior to happen whether or not it had malicious intent. I don't bring contraband into my home under any circumstances. If in fact it's a bootleg then they must face the penalty of such. That's why we have policies and warnings and labels on what is legal and what isn't. Distributing bootleg material is a felony and obtaining bootleg material is also a felony. I don't want a felony on my hands. That is a serious serious crime.

in NYC it's a 5,000 fine and up to 6 months in prison. I think that's worth something especially since there is no way for me to know whether it's real or not. When I go to Blockbuster I expect to get the movie that I see on the store shelf, I don't expect a bootleg.

Hey squonk. I own a studio. Its actually hard to bootleg unless you have the proper equipment. All DVDs have security encoded bi codes to prevent duplication. You can see them on the facets close to the center hole on the DVD itself where it meets the material etched on the DVD. To make a masterful copy of 'The dark knight' you would need a microboards brand duplicator that breaks security codes for duplication. I have a microboards duplicator. It breaks codes. But it can't erase the codes. It transfers the codes to the new copy and in fact let's the new user know that its a bootleg one way or another. An example is the music artist 'Madonna'. Since 2000 she has had her music encrypted to prevent piracy. When you try to copy from the CD- madonnas voice comes on saying "What the f*ck do you think you're doing?!!" its embedded in the anti piracy encryption. Very funny! So my duplicator will break the code and transfer the music off the CD and also the encryption. So the new CD will do out of the ordinary things- including having madonna saying "What the f*ck do you think you're doing?!!" at the beginning of the CD. You may very well have a "Bootleg" DVD. What I'm trying to say is if it is a bootleg it may be a misprint cut from blockbuster. Or it could be a duplicate of an original that someone rented and copied and sent the copy back to blockbuster. If so- that pirate had some gear- because microboards duplicators are not cheap and the printing program for faces are not cheap. The original "The dark knight" that you can buy anywhere right now was copied at the manufacturing plant off a glass master on a microboards duplicator. So you may have a bootleg. But it most likely is no result due to negligence of blockbuster. They are just a retailer that sells what they are sent. Like I said- you may have a promo cut minus functions sold to theatres. That happens to blockbuster often. My brother in law was a 5 state district manager for blockbuster for 11 years. Good luck.

And as an addendum.....I am an artist and I own a production studio. I do not believe in piracy. I paid for every one of my 5000 CDs. I only own 3 bootlegs of music and have permission of said artists. I do not pirate. Stealing is stealing.
