Does anyone else have serious emotional issues involving cars? I had 2 exes that played games with cars to control me, & I equate a car that is running & tagged in my name with security. If my car is not in the driveway ready to go at any time I am a nervous wreck.

My pretty little red Saturn, Sassy, is dead & I bought an ugly old chevy truck within 24 hours. I just went out to start it just to reassure myself that it's there & I am not trapped here. I am satisfied now. I can deal with all the crap that happened this week as long as that old truck is running!

You will be better off with the old chevy truck than you would be with the saturn

I drive 60 miles a day to work, the Saturn gets 38 mpg & the truck only gets 15. I like to have a truck when I need one, but this monster's not for daily commuting. Besides, I love Sassy! I am looking for an engine as we speak.

My advice is to get one with low miles( I'm assuming your buying a used motor)

I have located one that supposedly only has 7k but how can you really know?

Sell the Saturn and keep the ol Chevy truck. I've had my 1973 Chevy 3/4 ton flatbed for about 15 years now, and I wouldn't trade it for a whole bag of new vehicles. Newer vehicles are too expensive to maintain and repair.
As to the dude that was messin with your car as a form of control, if he made your car not run so that you wouldn't drive drunk, thats one thing, but most other reasons would warrant an ass woopin. Dennis

Unless the car it's coming out of is a year old it would have more miles on it than that, that being said I've put motors in cars that looked like they had 200,000 miles on the motor & ran like a top, but locating a motor with 50,000 or less you should be fine.

I rarely drink & never drive when I do. He did all kinds of things. The worst thing was when I found a car I could afford & was ready to buy, he bought it out from under me so it would be in his name & he continued the games.

A legally licensed and insured running car in America!

That is "Freedom"!

You are fully sane.

It's a bit of work to verify the approximate mileage on an engine, but an engine with 7K on it will look almost like it's sitting under the hood of a new car. No stains, no oil seepage anywhere, and the inside of the exhaust ports will look totally dry, with only a layer of light colored carbon buildup. With only 7K, it will be dusty, but there shouldn't be any oil stains on it anywhere. It will still look like new...
Be careful, because wrecking yards usually steam clean their used engines and that kinda hides the real truth. Dennis

So it sounds like the guys here are Chevy men. I now have a 1989 Scottsdale with a 305. It looks pretty good for a 20 year old truck. It seems to run good, it "feels good". 103K The heater works, the radio works & it has good tires. 700.00 bucks. How'd I do?

Nothing wrong with it Chevy, it's just not what I need to drive 60 miles a day. I had to find something, ANYTHING, fast & cheap,I am grateful to have it. Once Sassy is ressurected I will probably keep it & buy a camper, but not drive it daily.

You did great ! But for me, I like to stay back in the 60's and 70's for the lower cost of parts, and ease of maintainance. Dennis

Yep he is ex for a reason. I asked him to drive it & give me his opinion before I bought it. He came home with it tagged in his name. Isn't that rotten?
