We all have them, family, friends, former lovers/partners who make or have made the holidays unbearable.

Get them off your chest here, let 'em rip...just ...do not name names, or identify them in any way, and stay within in the Forum Rules.

This can be a good outlet to vent, maybe even cathartic for some, so don't ruin it for folks by posting something that will cause the thread to get pulled.

I will begin.....

Thank heavens I no longer have to spend another holiday where it's all about you. You exhaust folks with your constant attention-seeking, never-ending need to be patted on the back for your meal, your presents, the decorations, etc. It wears folks out and completely ruins what should be an enjoyable, relaxing day for folks.

*opens door, tiptoes quietly back out*




Honestly I hold no grudges. I DO have lots of people on the other hand whom I would LOVE to spend Christmas with and can't

Same to you, hon. Unfortunately, a lot of folks are holding onto resentments and grudges about the holidays.. this is an opportunity to anonymously vent them and perhaps, let them go.

I resent that you made the holidays a time of fear for our family because of your drinking and driving drunk with all of us in the car. The thought of those holidays still fills me with anxiety now over 40 years later.

I know I'm not the only one here who has held onto resentment, anger, pain about folks who ruin the holidays or make it impossible for us to enjoy them, or maybe you need to say I'm sorry to someone. This is an opportunity to put it into words, get them out and perhaps rid yourself of them.

My only gripe was with my ex, he thought we should only spend time with his family and to heck with mine. Now I am thankful that I can spend my holidays with my family and we can be together.

Yep. The last 5 years without the loser....I finally got the bond back that I lost with all of my family when I was married.

My ex..who thought every holiday, President's Day to New Year's, was just another excuse to drink himself into a stupor. I hope you are somewhere now with the last girl you cheated on me with, making her Christmas miserable!

I know .. I think it's a good thing you did the thread so people who DO have them can let go. I've just found resentments and grudges hurt the person holding them the most. You go girl!

Well, I agree..they are poison to those who hold them and do nothing but hold us back from true happiness. This is an opportunity for folks to LET GO of their grudges and resentments, without fear that they are being petty or bringing some else down, that is why many of us hold onto them.

I wish you had kept your mouth shut, let things be said and let the chips fall where they may. The holidays are not always the best time of the year for all, just you, obviously.

To my TWIN sister..your gifts were hideous, and obviously without much thought...and how the he!! you could get my size wrong every single year was astonishing...we're TWINS!!
