What knucklehead came up with the term building. My question is why do they call buildings buildings when they have already been built?
My last question for the night is why is there 10 hot dogs per package and some genius from a bread company has not created a solution by adding 2 more dam buns? |

marketing companies have changed the hot dog dilemma....unless you buy bulk, but then you buy bulk so....as for the building thing, I have no idea ask JRR Tolkien, he was a linguist...

I would wager that 'structure' is the proper term and 'building' is more of a slang referance to a structure.
As for the hot dogs .... it may more of a 'what came first' question. Personally I buy hot dogs in the big package of what 30 or so, and I don't buy hot dog buns. Instead I just use sliced bread. |

I have researched the query, and from what i have determined, in reference to the term "building" The term "building" is derived from a completed structure, as in built, including all embellishments. This is a compilation, and in as much the "ing" signifies, that the structure was completed by numerous trades, and solidifies the word "building" as all inclusive, before, during, and after the finished product. As for the hot dogs and buns, we can only surmise, that as you suggested, someone in the bread industry was either unfamiliar with the product in which they were attempting to produce as a condiment, or, as was suggested a flaming idiot. you see by questioning the hot dog to bun ratio you have now given the hot dog companies justification to lessen the amount of hot dogs while charging the same amount ..good going..somethings are better left unsaid ....
