I think a lot of people make the subconscious equation that the stronger the love is now, the harder the fall will be later.

I believe that alot of people sabatoge relationships because they are afraid of getting too close, (engulfed) in love and or subconsciously dont believe they deserve something so good. There is always a delicate balance of vulnerability and dependency. When one person or the other tips the balance there is an urge to snap the chain and start fresh.
