Longhorns got screwed, just sayin

Hey - two of those teams were going to get "screwed". It was inevitable. Tech beat Texas, Texas Beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma beat Tech. It was a tough to pick one of those teams. They are all really good.

When is the last year a college team DIDN'T say "we got screwed"? In college it's simple. Go undefeated if you don't wanna get screwed. Hmm guess that's not true either...see Auburn Tigers about that one. Until there is a playoff some teams will get screwed every year. Sucks.

A playoff system would make College Football even better. IMO

Believe me I want a playoff just as much as everyone one else. However I love the win every game mentality. September games mean just as much as December . I love the stadium atmosphere the way it is

You have a point there but there have been times where you have more than 2 undefeated teams at the end of the year. If you look at it that way, your team could win every game and still NOT win the National Title.

The win every game mentality will still have to be there. They are still fighting for a high ranking because that is how the teams in the playoff will be decided. It's not like the pros and once u have it wrapped up you can lay down. You don't make the top 8 or 4 whichever they choose then you don't go. Ya still better have no more than 1 loss. I understand what you are saying though.

I was talking about, given the situation we are in and how things were decided, that the Longhorns should be in the BIG 12 title game. We don't have a playoff, so why talk about it? The BCS is in place till 2016 (I believe it is).

We were talking about it because it's the only solution to teams not getting screwed. Don't know about the 2016 thing. I do know that my LSU Tigers are the only team to win it twice. I think this thread has gone about as far as it can go. You guys take care.

Goof - but by what you said, you are just basing your decision on the heads up matchup between Texas and Oklahoma. There were 3 teams in the mix, Texas Tech was the third. And Texas Tech beat Texas. So if Texas was chosen, people would say, well, Tech beat them, they should be there. If Texas Tech was chosen, then people would say, well, Oklahoma SMOKED Tech so they should be there. Anyway you look at it, someone would've gotten screwed.

In my opinion, I think they took who they thought would have the best chance at winning the National Title to the Big 12 championship. JMO

Okay. Let's break this down like this. Texas beat Oklahoma 45-35 on a neutral field. Then, the following week, they beat the crap out of Missouri in Austin. Then, right after that, they went into Stillwater and beat an unbeaten OSU. Then, the very next week, they went into Lubbock and lost on the last play of the game to Texas Tech. Four straight weeks, the played a team ranked in the top 12 (Missouri was 12 when they played them). Four weeks in a row, without a rest, they took on the best and lost on the last play of the last game in that four game stretch. That is impressive. OU played Texas, and then played TT with two weeks to prepare. OU did not play Missouri (they will now) and because OU beat TCU and Cincinnati (who won the BIG EAST) is the reason they got in the BIG 12 title game. TT did not play anyone except the Texas and OU, and they beat one of them on the last play, and then got their ass handed to them by OU.

Yeah, it isn't fair, cause you can make a case for either team really. And yes, a playoff system is what is needed. But that has been said for over twenty years now. Nothing has changed, and it won't.

dont forget texas was also a dropped interception away from winning the game
