and bought my almost 7 year old a Wii for X-mas...

I'm not feeling too good about it.

Someone talk me into keeping it...

I lifted the Barbie embargo a few years ago and still don't feel right about that one.

There is nothing wrong with buying your child a gift as long as you feel he/she deserves it. Plus there are a number of games for wii that promote activity. I would love to have a wii.

My 22 yr old and her BF got a Wii for their house...it's a BLAST! Just be prepared to play with your child...tennis, golf, fitness...whatever appeals to you both.

You can make it what you want it to be instead of a babysitter like many people do.

I've got the stranglehold on the PS2 system for DDR. That is also a blast...good exercise too. I actually just got a new fancy DDR mat a couple weeks ago.

We all know you bought it mainly because you wanted one!

Im gonna give my wii to Lisa and her kids for Christmas. I will probably use it more up there anyway.

No matter what, you will have regrets. You were just trying to make the kid feel good for Christmas. If nothing else, you're pumping bucks into the economy.

I agree, I hate video games and the time it wastes.

However she is a good student and is a very well behaved little girl.

So I'm torn.

Okay, now that was a controller I could handle! Tetris rocked!

On the Xbox I played Halo with my son once and while trying to figure out the buttons, I accidentally deleted his profile (complete with all his hard won stuff) in 4 random button strokes! I should have gone out to get a lottery ticket that night! LOL!

Still...once he recovered, he latched onto that story to tell his friends and boy, did I get mom-points for even TRYING to play! He still cringes when I remind him of that game!

Yes, it's a video game system that is highly interactive. For instance when you play tennis, you actually swing the controller to mimic the swing as if you were playing tennis for real.

That's kind of why I gave in to it, it also has very kid friendly games..."littlest pet shop" and educational games....

That's why I'm torn.
