High up on a mountain
Cold and dark and grey
Was the last known dragon-
At least thats what they say...
He lived a life of solitude
For all who saw him feared;
They would shriek and run away
Every time he'd come near.

So he hid against the stone
and rarely did go out,
Until one day a stranger
Climbed up to seek him out
"Hello dragon, are you there?"
The strangers voice called loudly;
So the dragon stood and stretched
Exposing himself proudly-

The young man was in awe
The dragon was so exquisite.
Sadness filled the young mans face
The dragon asked "What is it?"
"I was to come and capture you
or kill you" he replied-
"But alas what would happen
If the last known Dragon died?"

The dragons head sunk low in thought
He said "do what you must do-"
"You are a young mighty warrior
With strength that you must prove"
"I suppose I just hoped
The hunting had come to an end
And maybe some one would just come
because they want to be my friend.

Guilt ridden and full of remorse
The warrior drew his massive blade
As he walked toward the dragon
He said "Do not be afraid-
For I will only tell the King
That no dragon exists at last
They have all been slain I fear
By the warriors of the past."

"From this day my strength will be
That this secret I will keep
So you can live your days out here
In the mountain caves so deep.
By my honor Ill protect you
and hold this secret dear
That I am the last soldier to know
That the last dragon alive- lives here."
