We've started a new tradition of putting the Christmas lights on the house ON Thanksgiving Day cuz my older son is home from college to help his younger brother do it, and it always seems to be better weather.

This year we are actually getting the Christmas tree day BEFORE Thanksgiving & hopefully getting it decorated too cuz again, everyone is here to do it.

What about you? Do you find you mix the holidays more than you used to, or always have anyway?

christmas is starting right after halloween around here. Lets move both holidays to Dec. 12th and call it christhanksmasgiving

I like that, a lot. Mainly b/c I don't like most of my family...lol, and once a year with some of them is more than enough.

Celebrate "chrismas" any way you want to, as long as it dosen't involve hurting others. I kind of like my mothers veiw on "christmas" (God rest her soul), everyday of the year should be looked upon as though it were "christmas". Study latin to get the true meaning of her statement.

why in the world would celebrating Christmas involve hurting others at all? noway what

Ya I bought that crock when I was raising my first daughter ... stole all her fun. Talk about Mrs. Grinch (me) at the time.

Silliness. Pure silliness.

Guess you all didn't understand, oh well, there's lots of people who do. Like I said, if you want to understand, study latin. Christmas, or broken down to the latin roots from where the term came, means, a Mass, or worship service, held in honor of the life and teachings of Christ. I used to work at a retail store where some really popular toys for children were sold. I witnessed grown men actually getting into physical fights over the last few toys of a particular type. Hope this help with your understanding?

Actually that is one of my pet peeves sorry. I don't decorate till the month of the holiday. I also put up lights and all sorts of decorations takes two pickup loads to get everything out of storage for Christmas. I don't put up my tree till the 15th then I take it down on the 27th. I leave the outdoor lights up till after the 16th of January since I live in a town with heavy Russian Faith.

I can't stand to see the holiday stuff come in a couple of months before the holiday. Why can't we enjoy each one as they come along.

The one thing I do do is buy throught out the year for gifts. Since there is so many kids, grandkids, etc...

I totally believe in celebrating Christ's birth every day of the year. Your statement was just confusing.

It takes days to finish our tree. But we get a 10-12' tree for the family tree and then have a 4'Victorian tree too. All that work deserves some time to shine
Plus we love it up for New Years Eve bigsmile
