When I worked in the prison system, heard a story of an inmate who wanted a similar operation, the state wouldn't pay for it so he cut his penis off and threw it out into the hallway. An officer found it and took him to the infirmary. Funny thing, the officer was more upset about it than the inmate was.

Another time they found an inmate had wrapped dental floss around it trying to cut off the circulation so it would fall off on its own.

What some people will do to themselves.

Hard to believe but a lot of the officers do care about the inmates, some are jerks, but some really care. And it could be that it struck really close to home with having to pick up a man's penis and the thought that a man could do that to himself.

My old roomie became a Corrections Officer out in Colorado, and he is a good guy.
Myself,picking the penis off the floor wouldn't bother me. Been in the OR too long for that to disturb me. Seen more than I ever wanted to see, but no bad dreams so its all good.

I typed some criminal histories that gave me bad dreams and saw a couple of sex offender evaluations - those were the worst, I still remember those, scanned a couple, got to page 4, said no more and never looked again. They did give me nightmares. Those guys have no right to be breathing oxygen, couldn't believe people like that existed, but they do, absolutely no conscience and sick as dogs.

Some of my medical typing is bad, but not like that.

We had an escapee turn himself in after close to 20 years because he needed a heart transplant, no one else would pay for it, not his insurance, welfare, so he thought the prison would, oops, sorry guy. Didn't happen.

So true, and I work in the medical field and know how much of a hassle medical insurance is, that was the 2nd part of my sarcasm to the remark about not taking a payment plan.

It is getting hard for people on welfare to find a doctor to treat them, which is really sad with the way things are going in this economy. But the doctors have to write off most of their fee, probably about 75% of it, and some doctors are just refusing to treat welfare or even Medicare patients now too, for the same reason, sorry .
