I haven't seen Pepsi Vanilla in over 6 months around here. I went to
the Pepsi website and there is nothing about it having been
discontinued, and my Canadian spies tell me it is still readily
available up there. But just try to find it in Hicksburg, Illinois....

Town selectmen in West Hicksburg are upset over a flavored carbonated
beverage that many say is targeting towards children.

In a meeting Tuesday night, the town banned the sale of Pepsi Vanilla, a
flavored carbonated beverage that is distributed by Pepsi.

"I'm quite frankly disgusted with Pepsi for their lack of corporate
responsibility in this case," Maphed Applenese, Chairman of the West
Hicksburg selectmen, said. "Every year, communities such as West
Hicksburg spend thousands of dollars... educating our children on the
dangers of carbonated beverages."

Town officials say that the Web site promoting Pepsi Vanilla is a clear
enough example of how the company is targeting teens.

"There are instant-messenging accessories, ringtones that are available,
so this is clearly an effort to target a younger demographic," Applenese
said.

West Hicksburg has already banned the sale of the energy drink Cocaine,
and next month they are looking to prohibit selling the energy powder
cocaine.

Massage -- "Hicksburg" is just a metaphor for "Rubetown," which itself
is a metaphor for "Yokelville."

There actually is a Yorkville nearby but it doesn't have any Jerry
Springerish overtones so there would be no fun in that....

We had the vanilla one here in England, must admit have not seen it
lately.
On the rare occasions I drank pop I did like that one.
Will have a look tommorrow in the supermarket.
