i graduated 3 yrs ago.. been going to school since.. i was suppose to of gotten my teaching degree and graduated in 2008 but i changed my degree 3 times lol. so i graduate in 2010 then 2 more years for my bach and another yr to 2 for my masters.

I went into the Navy out of high school and have only taken a couple of college courses since.

I went back as an adult, too. Least you've already got it planned to go straight to grad school, that's smart.

When I was going, the counselors either didn't know yet or didn't tell us that a simple degree in most fields wouldn't get you what you really wanted as far as work is concerned.

Mary, push through your Bach.... if you need to take no more than a year break between undergrad and grad.... or just take one class... and then come back full time.


I am burnt out too! But I am hoping that in a doctoral program I will be reenergized b/c I will be doing more of what I want to do! I hope I get to go straight into a doctoral program... don't think I want to drag myself through a masters program.

My son has a HOT teacher at his middle school. She seems to need to do more after school help then other teachers

im not sure if i want my masters. the only good a masters does in nursing is teaching. but everyone keeps saying dont stop at your rn get your bach and your masters. but blah. they do the same stuff ill be doing.

with the degree your going for would you have to right a thesis in your doctorate program?

Doctoral progam is a dissertation, which is much more than a thesis and I would have to orally defend my disseration. But I would be doing more of what I wanted to do in a doctoral program.


Get your master's degree, eventhough there isn't much of a difference in practice and pay. It makes a big difference in your flexiblity and job options. With your master's in nursing you can supervise, which is more money. And you have more options for consulting and other non-patient job positions. You have to think of it as an investment, so that in the future you will have more options.

I'm going to school this coming Jan..for a Ph.D in Psychology, right afterwards for a PsyD in Psychology, then maybe go to medical school for pharmacy afterwards.

I finished a Bachelor's degree, but I like working at Wal-Mart. I'm strange that way.
