Wednesday evening we saw a house already decorated with lights on! When do you put yours up? It was always a tradition for us to get ours up AFTER Thanksgiving...the tree, (REAL fresh cut, THANK YOU VERY MUCH), would come into the house about 2 weeks before Christmas.

***just saw my typo!!!rofl Chrustmas!?***

Since I have to decorate by myself (Tom did help me when he was here), I already have mine up while it is warm outside. I can't do it when it is too cold outside, these old hands don;t work like they did when I was youngerembarassed

Two weeks before christmas, and it is away before new years day. And its artificial, last time i put up a real tree, I thought the thing was on fire when I woke up one morning. The "smoke" turned out to be a nest of spiders hatched and there were a hundred baby spiders webbing up and down from the ceiling above the tree. shiver. I picked up the tree and tossed it out the front door, orniments and all. Took hours cleaning up that mess. Time before that, a chipmunk was in the tree and the cat chased it around the house and tree. knocked the tree over, big mess. So no more cutting our own live tree from the tree farm.

i used to put ours up the weekend of the annual santa claus parade. however, he seems to be coming earlier and earlier, and has already been to toronto this year.

it's just TOO early and i'm afraid i'll get sick of the decorations if i start now.

so i'll leave it til the 1st weekend in december in which i have the kids (which will make it the 2nd week). we still may put up some lights on the lawn this weekend; just won't turn them on for a bit.

Last time I had a real tree, the kids and I had gone and picked it out, I cut it down, brought it home, spent 4 hours trying to get it to stand upright(this included rearranging furniture 3 times). Tossed it out the door stand and all. Went to Walmart got an artificial, stopped at the bar got smashed, went home put tree up.

As a kid I seem to remember the first wk-end after Thanksgiving. As Adult with kids, 2-3 wks before Christmas. Almost always a real tree. Now as a single adult. Probably wk-end after Christmas, a small fake tree. Something for my girls to decorate.

Me and my daughter are doing it this Sunday. She is in the town Christmas parade, so after that we are going to get some pizza and go crazy with the decorations inside and out. I'm excited!
