What's the best way to break it off with a man who's seen it coming even before I considered it?

so I should just blow him off? not even tell him that I want to break up at all? that seems lame

What do you mean he saw it coming before you did? If it's what I think, then it should be relatively easy flowerforyou

I'm not sure what you think, but he just has low self esteem and assumed from the git go that I was going to break it off with him.

no dont blow him off, thats would be awful...just let him down in a nice way...people heal quicker with the facts....if you blow him off thats going to leave him with one to many question.....I say treat people like you would like to be treated..that always works for mehappy

Yea sounds like the guy has already low self esteem, maybe a bit of a clingy personality.. so just blowing him off, will prolly not get rid of him.. and will be the worst thing to do..he will try everything to win you back...in addition he will be soo hurt, that his next girlfriend will go through the same thing..
Just tell him clearly, that his suspicious were right, that it is not working out, and it is really not him, just the chemistry is missing..or whatever..just make up some "Semi-BS"..just don't hurt his feelings.
Just be prepared that he will try to cling on..so after you tell him, sever all strings..cuz he will call you, txt you, e-mail you..until he is over you...but not as bad as if you did not tell him upfront!
