Do you cook most of the meal and have everyone to your house, or do you go to someone's home for Thanksgiving dinner?

My Mom is still living and it's her wish to always have Thanksgiving at her house. So we all cook something and take it there.

My family and I always cook together for Thanksgiving. We split up the menu, and everyone gets to share in it. This year I won't be able to cause I have to work.

After my Mom started having mini strokes, I began cooking it all here and having siblings, their spouses, kids etc. Now that she and Dad are both gone, siblings do their own thing. And to think, I would complain about how tired I was.

It depends but generally speaking, whoever's coming to dinner contributes something but the bulk of it is left to the host. Usually, that's me, but this year not.

Walmart is supposed to be having a catered dinner for us from a restaurant here in town. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but it's just not the same as having your family's recipe's that you've shared for years.

I don't have the room for everyone over here, so we usually celebrate the meal at my brother's house. He and his wife set it up and let each individual know what to bring. Such as, this year I'm selected to bring a half-gallon of cinnamon ice cream. Other years, it's a jug of wine, etc.

We always used to celebrate Thanksgiving at my parents' house, but it got to be too much for Mom to handle anymore with Christmas right around the corner. We still have Christmas at Mom & Dad's, though.

We always went to my parents house. Thanksgiving and Christmas. After Mom died, we were lost, everyone was. This will be my second round of Hoildays since the divorce, I think I am going to work through the Holidays. My kids are 15 and 17, I' talk to them before I decide about working Christmas. I used to take 2 wks off for Christmas so I could be home when the kids were off school.
But changes change everything.

Thanksgiving is a great day to eat too much, get bloated, sit on the couch and fart, talk about the rifle deer hunting season so far, watch the Packers beat up on the Lions (generally a yearly thing), and take a nap! laugh

(I know, offtopic ....sue me.)
