My greatest blessing is one that was never given
A treasures that begged to be found, Like a wide-eyed child Easter morn I searched nooks and crannies for what seemed like forever Groping for any shard of happiness in those dark lonely days Craving truth and solidity of anything, anything at all! Finally, hidden in an undiscovered corner Came the invisible shimmering promise of friendship Storm after storm raged tossing me about like a rag-doll angry words hit like waves My spirit became invincible, The malicious taunting of others almost laughable We knew truth from childish lie Though insults rained down causing flushed cheeks to dampen with tears I held tight to my treasure, someday it would be alright. That's what he promised And you know... He was right Peace on earth finally came, one dark wintry December night Descending a staircase carpeted in faded blue Grateful tears slid down paled cheeks No longer would there be heated arguments Neglect was gone, finally dead Silently I thanked the Lord for this treasure I have found Years fly by like seconds it seems We are still as close as two friends can be He saved a once hopeless empty soul Hazel eyes now dance with light Yes, life's hidden trinkets are the best Dedicated to my best friend Frog |
