Hi, I am Mindy. I just registered last night and this is my first experience with a dating site. I have a couple more questions dealing with messages and then I'll try to stop asking lame question I promise.

I got more messages then (than?) I thought and I am not sure of proper etiquette.

Ok I assume I should send out replies even to the guys I am not interested in.

How long is acceptable to wait before I send a reply? I already had three guys write me again and get rude because I didn't reply. One guy waited 8 minutes, one waited 25 minutes, and the third just messaged me and called be a butt plug cause I didn't respond to his message last night. I like to take my time and look the guys over but I don't want to be rude.


Is just a simple....no thx you are not my type....message ok?


Do I really have to send replies to the guys that just send smiley faces with no writing.

I know these questions might be lame but I like these forums and I don't want to be known as the forum stuck up girl because I don't do my replies right or respond fast enough.

Welcome to the rude side of online sites, get familiar witht the mail settings, and block feature. Unfortunately not all guys have enough common sense to know when they should walk away.

You will run into all kinds and take it at your time. Write when you want...Don't when you don't. It is not about being rude, as they have already been rude to you

The no thanks you are not my type or I'm not interested will suffice. Although there are some guys that will reply back asking why not. I just tell them to try reading my profile.


But the ones that just send smileys are probably just saying Hi, so a simple or in reply is good enough in my opinion.

The guys that were impatient with you and replied back rudely, well at least you found out ahead of time what they were all about and I personally wouldn't waste any time replying back to them.

Those guys who get upset after 5 minutes are kinda freaky. Just be yourself and watch out for the mentaly challenged.

So now, what about a good guy on here?

You don't have to reply at all if your not interested......It's your choice and you can get familiar with the "Block" feature for the ones who get a little out of hand.....
I try to reply to most of the emails and IM's, but there are some like the gentleman (And I use that term loosley) you mentioned.
Basically, you choose who you want to talk to.

I think a short 'not my type' reply is polite enough. Better than not getting any response in my opinion.

I usually answer right away...but if they are that impatient, it's probably best to block them...there are a few rude people here but all in all, most are wonderful....hope things go better for you and you will learn quickly, I promise

So? I found the forums right away and posted a lot. Most of the post were in my introductory posting line, go see for yourself. I was just being nice to people.

I jumped in the very same way...didn't even go to the newbie section, just started jumping into the threads....great way to get started...some just ease their way in...glad to see someone as enthused as I am about meeting people

Thx. I like these forums and I am a night owl so I got excited and made a whole bunch of post last night. I even read the forum rules and learned how to do quotes and other stuff. Blonde+waitress does not always equal dumb. I only play dumb for bigger tips at work.

I am allowed to use the bosses computer at work and now I can post on here when the lunch crowd leaves. I am tired of youtube.

Maybe I'll even meet a cool guy that doesn't call me a butt plug when I don't reply to his message fast enough.
