They are getting cheaper. I am email subscriber to alot of tech news and computer/electronic merchants.

I got an email a couple of weeks ago that said if you are satisfied with 720p to hold off we will see good ones for a 32 inch for $350.

I got this offer just the other day. I believe they are right.

499 for a 42"HDTV

no it is 720 p.. it really takes a good eye to tell alot of difference between 720 and 1080p... But what I am saying they are saying that HDTV's are getting ready to take a dive. probally right before christmas that week or after. Just thought I would pass it along the link is email subscriber specials only and it is worth it to subscribe they do come out with some really good deals and they aren't BSing you because you go just to the site and look the product up they show it alot higher. That i have ever checked. So the link I posted is for me. It is a FYI thing

Yea I am planning on buying a 720p and wait and then use it in another room. I also suscribe to Pioneer news. ansd they had a working 1080p 52 inch at CES this last Jan. that they said would start production next year. They said it has a 80% better picture than anything on the market. That will come out to the stores sometime in 2009. This model also has a picture frame for any size i believe and you hang it on the wall like any picture. 5/8th inch thick. The Technology I believe they are just holding till they can get rid of inventory

I work in digital television (set top boxes, encryption, UI) and I can tell you its more than the "eye" for the 720p vs 1080i/p debate. You'll find one format works better for sporting events while another for documentary. Many of the local broadcasters decided on one format with out considering the "per-event" formatting, but they are wizen up.

Any yes, I can tell a difference between the two, I'm just waiting for the price to fall out!

Ok, I don't know much about this, but I stood in front of a Sony 720 and a Sony 1080. There was a BIG difference. I want the 1080 so bad now. Are ya'll saying the prices will go down soon? flowerforyou

My understanding is under 40" you won't be able to tell the difference. Over 40", you WILL be able to tell the difference. I'm using a 32" sanyo as a computer monitor, but I wish I'd waited and got a 40 something at 1080. What I've got is good, but from 8 ft away, the letters can be a little small to read with my contacts in.
